Colleen Zilio Lead Partner:
Colleen has fifteen years of project development, operation and project management experience. She has Master of Science and an MBA from Queen’s University. Colleen’s focus and leadership have lead to a successful collaboration between designers, architects, and community interests. Colleen has worked as Director of Operations at Science North in Canada and the Glasgow Science Centre. In these roles she led the operations of science program, visitor services, physical plant, food and retail operations. She is the founding Partner of ZINC Projects and has led the development of the ScienceSouth and Lynches River Projects.
Eleanor Whittow: Onsite & Business Management
Eleanor has over fifteen years of operations management experience. Prior to Joining the ZINC Projects team Eleanor was the General Manager for the Lomond Shores project (Scotland, UK). With economic development as the motivating force, Lomond Shores was initiated to create employment and drive tourism. Eleanor implemented the construction and start-up of the attraction and retail complex. Once operational she then orchestrated the sale of the project to a private operator. Eleanor recently completed the start up of the Science South first phase facility including development and implementation, marketing plan, business systems, programming and staff recruitment and training. Eleanor has Master of Arts degree from the University of Edinburgh.
Perry Gauthier : Technical Projects and Support
Perry specializes in the development, design and production of multimedia experiences for science centres and museums. He combines creativity and technology best practices. Perry has over eighteen years of experience designing the educational activities for various science centres including Science North (Sudbury, Ontario), Glasgow Science Centre and Eureka children’s museum (Halifax, UK). Perry is typically involved in early stages of a development project, enabling him to identify unique opportunities for multimedia and technical interfaces for use in exhibitions and visitor flow and operational areas. His dedication, knowledge and hands-on style enable him to deliver productions that are highly entertaining and enjoyed by audiences of children and adults.
Claus Lammle: Design
Claus Lammle provides creative direction to an international clientele. He has a Bachelor of Education (Arts) at Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart and École Supérieure des Beaux Arts, Marseille (France). Claus has provided creative direction to many prestigious projects including Glasgow Science Centre, Macau Communications Museum, China and The Prince Salman Science Centre in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. Claus has also provided creative direction to important commercial projects and launches, including the launch of Maybach for Mercedes Benz, the Toyota Formula one event and several other exhibition and museum projects. He has also held a 1994 Professorship “Art and New Media” École des Beaux Arts Toulon (France).
Dr. Rebecca Crawford: Education Specialist
Rebecca is well respected within the UK science communication field for her expertise in developing, delivering and managing science based informal learning activities. She has worked for 14 years as science communication development manager with the University of Glasgow. Through festival and outreach programs, over 170,000 participants have been involved in University of Glasgow programs. Rebecca led the development and start-up of education programs for the Glasgow Science Centre as Education and Outreach Manager. In 2007 Rebecca planned and implemented the Glasgow University Science Festival - a science, arts and learning event based at and celebrating 200 years of the Hunterian Museum. She is adept at designing partnerships and programs for government and industry participation.
Blaine Nicholls: Architectural Consultant
Blaine Nicholls, BES, B.Arch, OAA, FRAIC, NCARB, University of Waterloo, Canada is a founding partner of Nicholls Yallowega Belanger Architects – Architectes, a firm with extensive local and international experience. His experience with planning for science and technology related projects include both educational and institutional projects in Canada, the US and Asia. For nearly thirty years, Blaine has provided architectural leadership to Science North, Dynamic Earth, and various other tourism and education related projects. His professionalism, extensive experience and attention to detail throughout all phases of design development and construction.
Tom Semadeni: Engineering Consultant
Tom began his career as an armed forces pilot in Canada and Europe he holds P. ENG and a teaching Certificate from Ontario College of Education, University of Toronto. Tom is particularly interested in developing experiences that involve, engage and empower people in their understanding and appreciation of the science and technology in their lives. Tom was a founding member of Science North, served on the Board of Trustees and then assumed the role of Science Director. Tom is renowned for his development of programs and outreach for learners of all ages. Since his retirement from Science North Tom has lent his expertise to science centres in Canada, US and the UK.
