On Tuesday May 13, 2008 United States Ambassador to Canada, David Wilkins, and two ScienceSouth representatives Henry Swink and Allen Wood toured Science North, a science center in Sudbury, Canada.
ScienceSouth, a non-profit organization, has established itself as a state leader with innovative programs such as its mobile science laboratories. Having recently opened a first phase facility on Jeffries Creek in Florence SC, ScienceSouth is expanding its vision for the future of science and technology education.

"We look to Science North as a model for our development. By touring exemplary science centers like Science North, we can see various educational strategies in action," ScienceSouth Trustee Allen Wood said. "Science North is a particularly important model, as it has achieved world-wide notoriety for its successful operating strategies. Our visit will broaden our understanding of ways to create learning experiences for families that are fun and educational."

"Ambassador David Wilkins' visit to Science North highlights the importance of science centers as a means to achieve community based education."
